Today on Fox News, David Perdue Has No Message or Plan for COVID Relief

November 15, 2020

ATLANTA — Today, after weeks of hiding from Georgia press, Senator David Perdue went on Fox News and failed to articulate why Georgia voters should re-elect him to a second term after six years of his failed leadership in Washington. Not once did Senator Perdue mention the coronavirus pandemic or that Georgians’ health care, jobs and small businesses remain at risk because of his downplaying of the pandemic and refusal to deliver on additional economic relief.

Perdue continues to expose his weak candidacy after his historically bad closing few days of the campaign. Perdue abruptly pulled out of the last debate after Ossoff hammered Perdue for his harmful agenda to strip away critical protections for 1.8 million Georgians with pre-existing conditions. Then he ran away from reporters in a desperate attempt to avoid answering tough questions about his dim reelection bid.

Now, after days of hiding from Georgia voters following his abysmal performance on Election Day, Senator David Perdue made it clear to Georgians he still has no solution to get the virus under control or help families and businesses who desperately need economic relief.

Perdue infamously stood by Trump as the coronavirus was first beginning to spread and was exposed for repeatedly echoing Trump’s downplaying of the threat of coronavirus, saying the risk of the virus remained low, telling Georgians the economic impact would be little, and even comparing COVID-19 to a bad flu season

“It’s no wonder Perdue sticks to his Fox News comfort zone while avoiding local press –– he clearly cannot make a case to Georgians for why he should be reelected,” said Braxton Brewington, spokesman for the Democratic Party of Georgia. “His only strategy is to sling baseless accusations at Jon Ossoff because he has no plan to get this virus under control or safeguard health care protections for hard-working families. Georgians will reject his failed agenda in January.”
