WHAT GEORGIANS ARE SEEING: Herschel Walker Ready to Ban Abortions Without Exceptions — Even In Cases of Rape, Incest, or To Save the Mother’s Life

Herschel Walker wants to make abortion illegal, even in cases of rape, incest, or even to save the life of the mother — saying, there’s “no exception in [his] mind” — and Georgians are hearing about it all across the state.

WSB-TV: “Herschel Walker would support making abortion illegal not just in Georgia, but across the country.”

Anchor: With Roe v. Wade overturned, Georgia Democrats are calling out Republicans for what they’re calling a dangerous and unpopular anti-choice agenda. Georgia Democrat lawmakers just wrapped up a press conference at the State Capitol. 

Congresswoman Nikema Williams: “Mitch McConnell confirmed that a federal abortion ban is on the table if Republicans take control of the Senate — and Herschel Walker, Republicans’ candidate for US Senate, would support making abortion illegal not just in Georgia, but across the country.”

WSB-TV:  “There is no exception in my mind because I believe in life. So knowing that, no exceptions”

Reporter: It is becoming a top issue in the race for the U.S. Senate. In May, GOP candidate Herschel Walker said he is pro life and doesn’t think there should be any exceptions.

Herschel Walker: “There is no exception in my mind because I believe in life. So knowing that, no exceptions, you know, I believe in life.”

WSAV (Savannah): “[Walker] said he wants to ban all abortions – even in cases of rape, incest, or where the mother’s life is in danger. No exceptions.”

Anne Allen Westbrook, candidate for Georgia State House District 163: “The Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade will jeopardize the health care of millions of women all around the country, and Republican politicians are already pushing forward on their long-held goals to strip health care protections away from women by restricting abortion.” 

Westbrook: “Herschel Walker, Republicans’ candidate for U.S. Senate, would support making abortion illegal not just in Georgia, but across the country if elected. He said he wants to ban all abortions – even in cases of rape, incest, or where the mother’s life is in danger. No exceptions.

• Herschel Walker wants to make abortion illegal without any exceptions for rape, incest, or the life of the mother. ‘There’s no exception in my mind’ and he “will not apologize for that.”
  
• Walker doubled down on his support for banning all abortions without exceptions for rape or incest or to save the life of the mother after the Supreme Court’s draft opinion was leaked, promising to “protect the unborn with my life … because I believe from the womb to the tomb.”

• Trump-tapped candidate Walker admitted in a Georgia Life Alliance survey early on in the race that he supports “outlawing abortion, including in instances of rape and incest,” even if necessary to save the life of the mother.
  
• Walker was endorsed by Susan B. Anthony List, a major anti-choice group that has worked to undermine reproductive rights. This endorsement comes after Walker was endorsed by National Right to Life, another organization that fights for bans and restrictions on the decisions women make about their own health care.
