Unemployment Claims Drop to Pandemic Low as Biden Economy Booms

November 4, 2021

New weekly claims for unemployment are down 75% since Biden-Harris administration took office

Last week, U.S. unemployment benefits fell by 14,000 claims — a new pandemic low — as the job market continues to rebound under President Biden’s economic plan. Since the Biden-Harris administration took office in January, weekly unemployment claims have dropped by a whopping 75 percent, and last month, Georgia’s unemployment rate hit 3.2% — a 20-year low.

As more Americans and Georgians are able to safely return to work thanks to Democrats’ American Rescue Plan making vaccines accessible and available for each and every worker, Georgia Democrats are working diligently to pass President Biden’s overwhelmingly popular and historic Build Back Better framework and Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill, which will make generational investments in rebuilding Georgia’s economy from the bottom-up and the middle-out.

“Week after week, Georgia and America are bouncing back from the tolls of the pandemic thanks to President Biden’s economic plan,” Rhyan Lake, spokeswoman for the Democratic Party of Georgia, said. “The Biden-Harris administration is already delivering record economic progress in Georgia, and now, with the President’s Build Back Better framework and Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill, Democrats are hard at work to make generational investments in families, workers, and small businesses across Georgia.”
