SHOT/CHASER: Loeffler Claims Kemp “Leading Our State Out of This Pandemic” — As Georgia Reports “Highest Rate of New Cases”

August 19, 2020

SHOT: Last night, Senator Kelly Loeffler went on Fox News to praise the man who appointed her to her unelected position, Governor* Brian Kemp, for his coronavirus response, claiming that “he’s leading our state out of this pandemic”:

CHASER: At the same time that Loeffler was trying to score points with her political patron, a new White House report showed Georgia reported “the highest rate of new cases of the coronavirus in the country” as it becomes the state where residents are “most likely” to be exposed to coronavirus.

LIME: Loeffler is no stranger to downplaying the coronavirus outbreak. Early on in the pandemic, she previously claimed that “the economy is strong” and that Americans should “rest assured” about the coronavirus threat — while she and her husband sold-off millions in stocks and invested in “a company that makes COVID-19 protective garments.”

“After the latest White House report showing coronavirus surging in Georgia, one thing is clear: Governor* Brian Kemp is not leading our state out of a crisis – he’s only made it worse. Senator Kelly Loeffler should stop trying to score points with the man who appointed her to her unelected position and start looking out for Georgia families in this growing pandemic,” said Alex Floyd, spokesman for the Democratic Party of Georgia.
