REMINDER: Perdue Supported “Repeal and Replace” Efforts to Gut Health Care Law — Despite Later Claiming Otherwise

May 20, 2020

Perdue has a clear track record of working to rip away protections from 1.8 million Georgians with pre-existing conditions and is still trying to during the coronavirus outbreak

ATLANTA — One year ago today, Senator David Perdue claimed he “was never really a repeal and replace guy” — after repeatedly voting to gut the health care law and pledging his support for a lawsuit that would completely overturn this landmark legislation for millions of Americans.

Just in case Senator Perdue has conveniently “forgotten” his support for “repeal and replace” as voters list health care as their top priority for 2020, here’s a reminder of his record:

  • 9/27/17: “Three Republican Senate chairman failed to support our efforts to repeal and replace Obamacare as we have all promised to do.”

No matter what he says now, his record is clear: Perdue has worked for years to gut the health care law and its critical protections for millions — including 1.8 million Georgians with pre-existing conditions — and he’s still fighting against access to coverage today.
