NEW REPORT: Biden Economy Creates 850,000 Jobs in June as Georgia Bounces Back

July 2, 2021

Today, a new report from the U.S. Labor Department showed that America added 850,000 jobs to the economy in June for a total of more than 3 million jobs since the President took office – the most in the first five months of a presidency on record.

“This week’s jobs numbers make it clear: President Biden’s economic plan is working,” said Rebeca Galanti, spokesperson for the Democratic Party of Georgia. “The President took office with a promise to build back our economy from the bottom up and the middle out, and he is delivering on his word for Georgians and the American people. Since the Biden-Harris administration and Democrats’ American Rescue Plan lowered taxes for middle class families, created more than 3 million jobs, and increased wages for workers, the Biden economy has boomed in Georgia and across the nation.”

Key highlights from the Labor Department report:

  • The economy created 850,000 jobs in June – the most in the first 5 months of a presidency on record.
  • Leisure and hospitality added 343,00 jobs in June, raising its three-month average job growth to 326,000.
  • State and local governments and education added more than 190,000 jobs.
  • 560,000 jobs per month on average have been created since President Biden took office.
  • Average wages are up 1.4% over the last three months – the strongest increase before the pandemic since 2006.
