NEW REPORT: Biden Economy Creates 43,600 Georgia Jobs in July

August 20, 2021

Today, a new report from the U.S. Labor Department shows that the Biden economy created 43,600 Georgia jobs in July, driving the state unemployment rate down even further. Across the United States, nonfarm payrolls increased by a staggering 943,000 jobs in July.

“Today’s jobs numbers make it clear: President Biden’s economic plan is working in Georgia and nationwide,” said Scott Hogan, Executive Director of the Democratic Party of Georgia. “The President took office with a promise to build back our economy from the bottom up and the middle out, and he is delivering on his word for Georgians and the American people. Since the Biden-Harris administration and Democrats’ American Rescue Plan lowered taxes for middle class families, increased wages for workers, and delivered relief to small businesses, governments, and schools, the Biden economy has boomed in Georgia and across the nation.”

Key highlights from the Labor Department report:

  • Georgia unemployment has dropped 3.9 percentage points in the past year. Georgia’s unemployment rate in July 2020 was 7.6 percent. Now, thanks to the American Rescue Plan and Democratic leadership in the White House and Congress getting our economy back on track, Georgia’s unemployment rate is 3.7 percent.
  • Georgia’s unemployment rate dropped even further in July. Georgia’s unemployment rate in June 2021 was 4.0 percent.
