NEW: Democratic Party of Georgia Files Ethics Complaint Against Collins for Improper Use of House Footage

August 4, 2020

Collins has repeatedly used House floor footage for inappropriate partisan political purposes as part of his Senate campaign

ATLANTA — Today, the Democratic Party of Georgia announced that it is filing a complaint with the Office of Congressional Ethics against Congressman Doug Collins for his repeated use of footage from the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives for political purposes as part of his Senate campaign, a direct violation of House rules.

On multiple occasions, Collins has misused footage of House floor proceedings by featuring it in his campaign materials, including most recently in a new ad that attacks his opponent Senator Kelly Loeffler, who has had her own ethical lapses throughout her campaign.

“Congressman Collins is violating the public trust of Georgians with his unethical use of official proceedings in his campaign ads,” said Scott Hogan, Executive Director of the Democratic Party of Georgia. “We’ve filed this complaint to make sure that Collins is held accountable for his actions and violations of House ethics rules, and to urge the Office of Congressional Ethics to begin an immediate investigation into his conduct.”
