NEW: AJC Poll Shows Perdue Losing As Trump Allies Rush To Georgia To Bail Him Out

October 26, 2020

AJC: Ossoff leads Perdue 46 to 45, winning independents by a 58-14% margin

ATLANTA — In a new Atlanta Journal-Constitution poll, Senator David Perdue is losing to Democrat Jon Ossoff as Trump ally Sarah Huckabee Sanders rushes to Georgia in a last-ditch effort to salvage Perdue’s losing campaign amid “sluggish fundraising” and intense national scrutiny from recent divisive remarks. The poll shows independents, a key voting bloc in Georgia, decisively supporting Jon Ossoff over Perdue by a 58-14% margin.

Mitch McConnell’s super PAC has showered Georgia in cash from big-money donors for the so-called “original outsider” (and actual “establishment player”) and, according to the Daily Beast, one in every five dollars spent to date by McConnell’s super PAC nationwide has gone to ads attacking Jon Ossoff.

A recent New York Times/Siena College poll showed that “David Perdue’s lead has evaporated” against Democrat Jon Ossoff and that his favorability ratings have “declined significantly” – eight percentage points since last month as election handicappers rate the race a toss-up

As White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows says the Trump administration is giving up on trying to “control the pandemic,” Perdue has doubled down on his allegiance to President Trump and his failed, reckless policies, claiming that Trump “has not gotten enough credit for his actions to stem the pandemic” and saying he “of course” supports the GOP lawsuit to strike down the Affordable Care Act by airing misleading ads that have been fact-checked as false claiming to support protecting people with pre-existing conditions.

“Georgians are turning out to vote in record numbers because they’re tired of the failed policies of Senator Perdue and President Trump and are ready to elect new leaders who will guide us out of this crisis and protect our health care,” said Braxton Brewington, spokesman for the Democratic Party of Georgia.
