Macon Voters Stand Against Herschel Walker

Rep. James Beverly, Georgia House Minority Leader: “The whole point of serving in the Senate is to help people — but it appears Walker is only interested in helping himself.”

Today, Macon voters held a press conference highlighting Herschel Walker’s pattern of lies and disturbing behavior— all while the GOP Senate candidate refuses to answer basic questions after the latest series of revelations, including the latest report of another woman being threatened by Walker.. Speakers discussed how Walker’s long, damning pattern of lies, scams, and disturbing conduct proves he is not ready to represent Georgians.

With two days of early voting left, speakers reminded Georgians why Walker has not earned their vote to represent them in the U.S. Senate and encouraged voters to make their voices heard. 

“What Herschel Walker is doing – boasting and lying, for political benefit – is disgusting. But we’ve seen it for months and months — he lies about every aspect of his life, and he fails to take responsibility for any of it. Walker has a long history of disturbing conduct that he’s never taken accountability for — and Georgians deserve to know all of the facts before they make their decision,” said Rep. James Beverly, Georgia House Minority Leader. “The whole point of serving in the Senate is to help people — but it appears Walker is only interested in helping himself. Small businesses and workers in Georgia deserve leaders who will fight for them, not lie to them.”

“Herschel Walker has a historical pattern of violence towards women. I teach my boys kindness and compassion towards others; that violence should only enter the narrative when in defense of themselves or loved ones. My eldest bears the trauma of witnessing domestic violence in the home. Thankfully, he only had to witness it once, as I had the strength and drive to remove myself from that situation. Many of my sisters were not so lucky. Herschel Walker represents the pain of that moment in my life every time I open my newsfeed,” said Caly Hess, Georgia voter and Macon mom. “Politics is a public crucible: we learn who a candidate is as a campaign marches on. Everything we’ve learned about Herschel Walker is terrifying. He’s a danger to our community, and our country. We need to do more than defeat him at the ballot box —we need to send a message that dangerously under-qualified and morally bankrupt candidates like him are less than we deserve.”

“As a veteran, I chose to put my life on the line to protect my fellow Georgians and my fellow Americans. And so I share the shock and disgust of my fellow speakers at the many reports on Herschel Walker’s pattern of disturbing behavior and lies. Walker has repeatedly lied about founding a charity for veterans — when in reality, he made a fortune last year, and the decade prior, serving as a spokesperson for a private hospital chain’s for-profit program that ‘preyed upon veterans and service members while defrauding the government.’ And the worst part? Herschel Walker refuses to take responsibility for preying on folks like me, who’ve made so many sacrifices to protect our nation,” said Floyd Griffin, veteran and former Milledgeville Mayor. “It is shameless and extremely inappropriate for anyone to prey on veterans and their families, let alone someone trying to serve in the United States Senate. Georgia deserves a Senator who remains committed to the values we stand for. And luckily, that’s who Senator Reverend Warnock is.”
