Kennesaw State Students Prepare for Conventions

August 27, 2012

Georgia – Kennesaw State University students are preparing for a crash-course in presidential politics as they travel to Tampa and Charlotte for the party conventions.

The students are enrolled in two interdisciplinary special topics courses designed to help political science and communication majors gain real-world experience in qualitative research and journalism. Communication students will produce print, photographic and video convention coverage that will be posted daily to a class website, while political science students will conduct interviews and participant-observation research. Students will blog and tweet daily about their experiences while embedded with Georgia’s delegations.

One group of students is already in Tampa for the Republican National Convention. Another group will depart for Charlotte next weekend for the Democratic National Convention.

To reach students at the conventions, call or text:

Kerwin Swint (770-605-0840) or Carolyn Carlson (404-502-1638) at the Republican convention.

Jeff DeWitt (404-819-0968) or Josh Azriel (904-304-1346) at the Democratic convention.
