Georgia House Republicans Need to Answer for Their Vote Against Addressing Formula Shortage

May 31, 2022

As Georgia House Republicans return home for congressional recess, you’ll probably hear them talk about the national shortage of baby formula – and you’ll probably hear them try and shirk responsibility. But what you likely won’t hear them talk about is their vote AGAINST a bill to ensure the FDA has the resources it needs to address the shortage and help make sure this doesn’t happen again.

President Biden and Democrats, on the other hand, are taking this shortage seriously and taking action – passing legislation to address the shortage, invoking the Defense Production Act to get more formula made faster, and having the military airlift in formula to help get formula to families who need it.

If Georgia Republicans were actually concerned about the formula shortage and helping families get the formula they need, they would have voted for the bill to address the shortage.

With that in mind, here are three questions for Republicans as they return home for recess:

  1. Why did you oppose the bill to address the formula shortage?
  2. Democrats are passing legislation to address the formula shortage, and President Biden is taking unprecedented steps by invoking the Defense Production Act and having the military fly formula in from overseas – what are you and your Republican colleagues doing?
  3. Why won’t you stand up for Georgia’s families who are struggling with this formula shortage?
