With the results for each of Georgia’s U.S. House seats counted, every Georgia Democrat up for re-election has won another term in Congress. Democratic Party of Georgia Executive Director Rebecca DeHart issued the following statement:
“The Democratic Party of Georgia extends its congratulations to the five Democratic incumbents representing Georgia in the U.S. House of Representatives on the ballot today – all of whom have been elected by their constituents to another term in Congress. Despite Republican efforts to silence the voices of Georgians through redistricting, voters turned out in record numbers to send their Democratic representatives back to Congress.
“U.S. Representatives Sanford Bishop, Hank Johnson, Nikema Williams, Lucy McBath, and David Scott have proven track records of getting things done for the people of Georgia, and it is clear their constituents overwhelmingly approve of the job these House Democrats are doing in Congress. The Democratic Party of Georgia knows they will continue to serve the diverse communities they represent with integrity, dedication, and moral clarity – fighting for Georgia families and getting into good trouble.”
