ATLANTA – Today, the Democratic Party of Georgia celebrated victories across Georgia on Election Night, and congratulated candidates and campaigns who ran in municipal runoffs.
Democratic Party of Georgia Chairwoman Nikema Williams said:
“Georgia is the battleground state – which is why volunteers and voters turned out on a cold Tuesday in December to vote for change in their communities. I am so proud to congratulate Mayor-Elect Van Johnson, Mayor-Elect Bianca Broom, and all of the candidates across Georgia who fought hard for their communities and made their voices heard.
Georgia Democrats know how important strong local leadership like Van’s and Bianca’s is for our communities, and we are proud to have invested in municipal elections throughout 2019 to earn progress across our state. Thank you to all of the candidates, volunteers, and voters who have given their time, money, and passion to campaigns across Georgia this cycle. Together, we will keep fighting for a Georgia that works for all.”
DPG Executive Director Scott Hogan said:
“Tonight’s victories are the results of strong investments in organizing programs across Georgia: the same programs that will help take us to victory next fall. Our candidates, organizers, and volunteers in every county in Georgia have proved that Georgia is the battleground state, and that Georgia Democrats are ready to mobilize, organize, and make sure we win up and down the ballot.”
The Democratic Party of Georgia has spent 2019 building its program to connect with Georgia voters, and made investing in municipal races a key priority to build for 2020. Throughout this year, the DPG has made significant investments in field, voter protection, and candidate recruitment, all as part of the party’s greater commitment towards electing Democrats in every corner of the state.
