Democrats Celebrate Victories Across Georgia

November 6, 2019

ATLANTA – Today, Democratic Party of Georgia Chairwoman Nikema Williams released the following statement following municipal victories for Democrats across Georgia:

“Last night, Democrats across the nation showed that when you invest and compete everywhere, you win. In cities and counties across our state, Georgians, many of them women and people of color, showed up to run for local office and fight for our Democratic values, and they showed up at the ballot box to make their voices heard. From city council victories in Rome and Statesboro, to mayorships in Dunwoody, Savannah, and Valdosta, Georgia Democrats have proved that our movement is powerful, and that our voters will not be ignored.

Georgia Democrats know that turning Georgia blue doesn’t start with the White House – it starts with electing Democratic city councils, school boards, and mayors, with voters right in our neighborhoods. We are proud to have invested in municipal elections across Georgia to help make last night’s wins happen, and we are committed to continuing that investment to finish the fight.

Congratulations to the candidates, organizers, and activists across Georgia who made great sacrifices to fight for their communities, and earn these victories. We look forward to partnering with you to continue pushing for a Georgia that works for all.”
