Democratic Party of Georgia Statement on Sentencing of Ahmaud Arbery’s Murderers

After the sentencing today in the trial of Ahmaud Arbery’s murderers, Congresswoman Nikema Williams, Chair of the Democratic Party of Georgia, released the following statement:

“I join all Georgians in breathing a sigh of relief knowing that those who murdered Ahmaud Arbery are being held accountable. Though the legal system has done its job today, this sentencing will not bring back Ahmaud or the countless other lives we’ve lost at the hands of racism, and there can truly be no justice until no American’s life is cut short due to bigotry or reckless vigilantism. Let us all continue to pray for the Arbery family as they grieve their insurmountable loss, for Brunwswick as the community works to heal, and for the country as we carry on in the march towards justice.”
