Democratic Party of Georgia Statement on Georgia Republicans’ Attempt to Revitalize HB 481 in Court

Today, Georgia Republicans were in court trying to revitalize HB 481, their dangerous six-week abortion ban. Meanwhile, Democrats are fighting in Congress for the Women’s Health Protection Act, which would federally codify protections for reproductive freedom throughout the country. 

“A Georgia judge struck down Republicans’ HB 481 last year because the court saw it for what it was — an unconstitutional infringement on the right to choose — and we hope the 11th Circuit Court agrees,” said Congresswoman Nikema Williams, Chair of the Democratic Party of Georgia. “With Georgia Republicans plotting how to push their dangerous anti-choice agenda forward, Democrats will continue to fight at every turn to safeguard reproductive freedom and keep the government out of private health care decisions.”
