Democratic Party of Georgia Statement on Georgia GOP Convention Speaker Lineup

Today, the Georgia GOP announced that failed 2022 Arizona gubernatorial candidate and prominent election denier Kari Lake will be the keynote speaker at their 2023 Convention in Columbus, completing their lineup of fringe right-wing headliners. In response, Democratic Party of Georgia spokesperson Ellie Schwartz released the following statement:

“Georgia Republicans’ speaker lineup for their convention – including Donald Trump, Marjorie Taylor Greene, and newly-named headliner Kari Lake, an election denier who still refuses to accept the results of the 2022 election – sends a clear reminder to voters that the Georgia GOP has become fully engulfed by MAGA extremism. 

“The Georgia GOP’s marquee event of the year is a declaration of their values – and with appearances by the country’s most notorious conspiracy theorists, anti-abortion extremists, and January 6th apologists, this lineup should erase any doubt for Georgia voters that extremists are firmly at the helm of the Republican Party.”
