Democratic Party of Georgia Statement Marking Close of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month

May 31, 2022

Today, as Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month comes to a close, Congresswoman Nikema Williams, Chair of the Democratic Party of Georgia, released the following statement:

“This past month has offered us an important opportunity to celebrate the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community and reflect on the immense contributions of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders to Georgia and the entire nation. Georgia’s growing, diverse AAPI community – made up of multiple languages, vibrant cultures, and unique experiences – enriches our state every day, and Georgia Democrats are proud to count AAPI Georgians among some of the most committed members of our party. As Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month comes to a close, let us all recommit ourselves to uplifting and honoring the AAPI community year-round and making our state and country a place where everyone can thrive.”
