Democratic Party of Georgia Responds to Senate Vote Blocking For the People Act

In response to the Senate vote to debate S.1, the For the People Act, Congresswoman Nikema Williams, Chair of the Democratic Party of Georgia, released the following statement:

“Across the country and right here in Georgia, Republican state legislatures are trying to rig our elections by making it harder to vote. Such a coordinated, nationwide attack on our democracy demands a federal response. Though today’s Senate vote blocking the For the People Act is disappointing, it by no means marks the end of this crucial fight. As Georgia’s Senators continue leading the charge to preserve and strengthen our democracy, Georgia Democrats from the federal to local level remain committed to the fight to protect access to the ballot box for all, regardless of race, zip code, ability, or socioeconomic status.”
