Georgia — December 9, 2020 — The Democratic Party of Georgia will host an Elf Livestream on Sunday, December 13th at 4pm ET. Original cast members and special guests alike will join for this holiday classic. The event will be available for a donation of any amount or interested viewers can sign up for a volunteer shift, and all proceeds will go towards electing Jon Ossoff and Reverend Raphael Warnock and flipping the U.S. Senate.
“I’m excited to bring Buddy back to the small screen to benefit the critical Senate runoff elections in Georgia,” said Will Ferrell. “We need new leadership in the U.S. Senate, and I’m hoping that Buddy and the rest of the Elf cast, can play a small role in delivering that change.”
“Elf is a holiday classic for families every year, and now, with this reunion on the eve of early voting in Georgia, it’s going to share warmth and joy and help more Georgia voters than ever before make their voices heard,” said Jason Esteves, Treasurer of the Democratic Party of Georgia. “This holiday season, Georgia Democrats know that the best way to spread holiday cheer will be voting loud for all to hear. The joy, laughter, and good tidings from this incredible film will mobilize new volunteers and raise funds to send Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock to the U.S. Senate.”
“We’re bringing the cast of Elf back together again and I’m so glad it’s to benefit the work of the Georgia Democrats,” said Andy Richter. “We know that Democrats must take back control of the Senate, all of our futures depend on it. If bringing this awesome group of people together will help get us here, then I say count me in.”
Comedian and Emmy winner, Ashley Nicole Black will be hosting this iconic event, and participants will include Will Ferrell, Zooey Deschanel, Bob Newhart, Edward Asner, Mary Steenburgen, Amy Sedaris, Andy Richter, Kyle Gass, Danny Woodburn, Jon Favreau (of Pod Save America), John Lithgow, Ed Helms, Busy Phillips, and Matt Walsh. Hovercast will be producing the event as the virtual event platform and live stream producer.
Event host, Ashley Nicole Black, added, “A couple of years ago, I did a piece on Full Frontal about voter suppression in Georgia. The voter suppression Georgians, particularly Georgians of color, deal with is truly next level. But despite all the challenges, they turned their state blue this year! Now they’re poised to help Democrats take back the Senate, and what better way to help them get out the vote than by doing something I wanted to do anyway: Watching the cast of one of my favorite movies read the movie on Zoom and also see what a little corner of their house looks like. Truly doesn’t get any better than this.”
