ATLANTA – Today, ahead of the final Presidential debate, Georgians who have been personally impacted by COVID-19 shared their experiences and why we must elect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

“I come today because, as one of the 8 million Americans who have had COVID in this country, I am constantly reminded that it did not have to be this bad,” said Reverend Leela Waller, a survivor of COVID-19. “By continuing to hold superspreader rallies, Trump shows disregard to those who have died from the virus, those who are now in the hospital, and those who have lost their jobs. America needs a President with some moral leadership, who will listen to the scientists about coronavirus and that’s why I’m voting for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.”
“The virus hit rural Georgia so hard in large part because Georgia Republicans refused to expand Medicaid and created a system with nearly half a million uninsured and dozens of closed rural hospitals,” said Dr. Karen Kinsell, the only doctor in Clay County. “Now, just this morning, Trump was caught on tape advocating for the Supreme Court to overturn the Affordable Care Act, ripping health care away from millions. I remember the days where people couldn’t get coverage because they had pre-existing conditions and they were horrendous. That’s why we have to elect Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and Democrats up and down the ballot who will defend protections for pre-existing conditions, not destroy them.”
“I am a COVID survivor, but right now I’m battling to keep my small business afloat. Even though small businesses drive the economy, we haven’t had any help from Trump’s failed administration,” said Helio Bernal, small business owner. “I know that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris value small businesses and will make a difference for us.”
