After Getting Caught in Lie After Lie, Herschel Walker Has Only Doubled Down on Deceiving Georgians

July 6, 2022

Over the past few months, Herschel Walker has faced intense scrutiny for repeatedly lying to Georgians — including the latest: claiming he worked in law enforcement and was in the FBI, when in fact, according to multiple law enforcement agencies, he never was

Walker’s pattern of lying is problematic on its own — but in many of the cases where he was caught misleading Georgians, instead of taking responsibility, he’s doubled down on the falsehoods, continuing to deceive voters about his record and showing just how wrong he is for Georgia.

  1. Walker claimed he graduated top of his high school class and top 1% of his college class. But he didn’t — in fact, he never graduated from UGA. Even after being exposed on April 1, 2022, Walker kept lying about his education:
  • Walker on April 20, 2022: The thing is, I’ve been honest and open about whatever I’ve done. I did graduate at the top of my class in high school.”
  1. Walker claimed he created the largest minority-owned food service company in the nation, along with other massively successful companies with hundreds of employees. But that’s not remotely true — and some of those businesses don’t even exist. Even after being exposed on April 13, 2022, Walker kept lying about his business record:
  • Walker on April 19, 2022: “Now [my business is] the largest minority-owned food service company of the United States of America.”
  • Walker on April 30, 2022: “I got into the food service business. That little business that I got into about 20-something years ago come to be the largest minority-owned food service company in the United States of America.”
  • Walker on May 2, 2022: “My business is thriving. It is very, very profitable. We are one of the largest minority-owned food service companies in the United States of America.”
  1. Walker claimed he founded a program to help veterans. But the truth is, not only did he not found the program — the program was actually founded by a for-profit health care chain and preyed on veterans while defrauding the government, all while Walker raked in hundreds of thousands of dollars. Even after being exposed on May 21, 2022, Walker kept lying about his record with the program:
  • Walker on June 6, 2022: “That’s one thing that I’ve had the pleasure of doing is for the almost 15 years. I helped to start this program and be a part of this program called Patriot Support.
  • Walker on July 4, 2022: “I got with a program called Patriot Support, where every three weeks I would go to a military base somewhere in the world, all over the world to try to remove the stigma of mental health.”
