Job Opening: Political Director

The Democratic Party of Georgia is seeking a Political Director. The Political Director is responsible for:

  • Planning and supervising the execution of the DPG Political Outreach Program statewide.
  • Implementing a political strategy for staff, local elected leaders, county parties, Congressional Districts, allied organizations, and activists.
  • Creating a statewide training program in preparation for a 2020 and beyond statewide campaign effort.
  • Working with other DPG departments to ensure that the DPG and its campaigns have the support of key stakeholders, local leaders, and opinion makers as well as elected officials.
  • Building relationships with local leaders, key stakeholders, and activists in preparation for a 2020 and beyond statewide campaign effort.
  • Building a strong party for future years and election cycles.

This position reports directly to the Executive Director with substantial involvement from the Chairwoman of the DPG. Additionally, the Political Director will work closely with the Vice Chair of Congressional District Chairs and County Party Liaison and the Vice Chair for Candidate Recruitment.

Qualified candidates should have:

  • At least two full cycles in statewide races or state-based organizations
  • Experience in managing staff
  • Georgia experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Great time-management skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Working knowledge of Georgia political, electoral and legislative processes
  • Willing to work extensive hours, including nights/weekends with some travel
  • Positive attitude and ability to motivate staff members
  • Committed to details, results, meeting goals, and consistent improvement
  • Experience working collaboratively with elected officials, candidates, community groups, and/or allied organizations
  • High level of personal and professional integrity
  • Valid Driver’s License and access to reliable transportation
  • Experience with VoteBuilder a plus but not required

Job Opening: Finance Director

The Democratic Party of Georgia’s (DPG) Finance Director’s primary responsibilities are to carry out an annual, large-scale fundraiser, several smaller-scale fundraisers and to keep the financial operations, in coordination with the Operations Director, at the DPG running smoothly on a day-to-day basis. Candidates must pay meticulous attention to detail, have a passion for growing our organization and demonstrate a real commitment to working on a team in an interactive and dynamic environment. Additionally, the Director of Finance will be responsible for and expected to contribute equally to several office-wide projects including state committee meetings, political events, election efforts, and other DPG gatherings. The Director of Finance will work closely with the DPG’s CFO, the Executive Director and any other fundraising staff or consultants.

Job Description:

  • Leads the DPG’s fundraising strategy to support Democrats across Georgia including throughout the 2020 Coordinated Campaign;
  • Plans and executes the DPG’s annual State Dinner and other donor events throughout the calendar year;
  • Maintains and expands monthly donors;
  • Works with the Executive Director to ensure that cash flow and budgetary projections are met while creatively identifies new revenue streams;
  • Serves as a resource to county parties, DPG officers, DPG staff, and candidates about fundraising strategy and reporting requirements;
  • Works with the Finance Committee of the DPG to craft fundraising objectives;
  • Prepares and manages call time for DPG officers and/or other identified raisers; and
  • Manages all donor follow-up activity while maintaining professional and cordial donor relationships;
  • Works with the DPG’s Operations Director to maintain accuracy of the donor database.

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years prior political fundraising experience – experience working on a statewide or congressional political campaign or a state political party preferred;
  • Experience with online and direct mail fundraising, call-time management and conceptualizing and executing fundraising events;
  • A record of and a commitment to innovative approaches in addition to the traditional fundraising tactics and strategies;
  • An understanding of both state and federal election law is preferred, as is a demonstrated ability to understand the interplay of federal and non-federal money;
  • Prior experience with targeting contributors and follow-up management;
  • Experience creating finance/fundraising plans;
  • Experience managing staff and/or volunteers;
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously under strict deadlines;
  • Detail oriented with exceptional record keeping and organizational skills;
  • Responsive and positive team player who enjoys versatility and constant new challenges;
  • Exceptional people skills and patience;
  • Excellent verbal, written and analytical skills including the ability to publicly speak persuasively in a charged atmosphere;
  • An unwavering commitment to accuracy and results;
  • Self-starter;
  • Effective computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, and NGP/VAN; and
  • A strong commitment to Democratic values.

Logistics:

  • Must have a valid Georgia’s driver’s license, a reliable mode of transportation and the ability to travel extensively at times throughout the state for more than a day at a time;
  • Must be able to travel outside of the state, often for several days at a time, to national trainings and events;
  • Office hours are typically 9:00 – 5:00, Monday through Friday, however, evening and weekend hours will be needed regularly and the hours will increase during the Coordinated Campaign; and
  • Must have the ability to regularly lift and carry 25lbs.

Job Opening: Digital Strategist

The Democratic Party of Georgia is seeking a Digital Strategist to support it’s online engagement, fundraising, and organizing efforts.

We are seeking someone who has experience building communities online, managing social media accounts for an organization and writing for an email audience. This position  will be required at times to work after hours and weekends for rapid response.

Responsibilities:

  • Send digital fundraising blasts
  • Set up signup forms and donation pages
  • Help develop innovative outreach strategies to reach our target audiences, generate social engagement, and get our message out.
  • Contribute to the digital fundraising copywriting process ensuring that all messages are held to stringent standards of grammar, accuracy, functioning links, etc.
  • Draft daily social media content for Facebook posts and tweets, including but not limited to graphics and videos.
  • Perform other duties as needed

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of HTML and CSS — any other coding knowledge is a major benefit.
  • Photoshop/Illustrator/graphic design/video experience is a plus.
  • Strong writing skills and the ability to complete digital fundraising copy quickly.
  • Familiarity with NGP is preferred, but not required
  • Commitment to DPG’s mission.
