State Rep. Schofield:‘President Biden and Democrats kept their promise. Thanks to the American Rescue Plan’s Child Tax Credits, tax cuts for working families in Georgia are on the way.’
Last week, local elected officials across Georgia praised President Biden and Democrats’ tax cut for working Georgia families. Last Thursday, 91% of Georgia families with children began receiving monthly tax cuts of up to $300 per child as part of the American Rescue Plan – no thanks to a single Republican. The historic program will provide additional relief of up to $1,600 per child to the families of 2,274,000 children in Georgia, helping lift 171,000 children out of poverty.
Here’s what local leaders are saying about the tax cuts:
State Senator Nikki Merrit (SD-09): “Hitting bank accounts today! Monthly tax credits of $300 for children under 6, and $250 for children 6-17. Knowing how hard the pandemic has been on many GA families, I am thankful these tax credits will help lift children out of poverty and strengthen our middle class.”
State Senator Kim Jackson (SD-41): “This is a remarkable win for working families in Georgia and across this nation. 🙌🏽”
Parents will get $300/month for any child ≤ 5, and $250 for kids age 6-17.
State Representative Dar-shun Kendrick (HD-93): “Take that credit democrats! Thank you to Congresswoman @RepLucyMcBath, @Carolyn4GA7 , @RepHankJohnson and @RepNikema for their hard work. I don’t have any kids but my constituents do and they are THANKFUL!”
State Representative Kim Schofield (HD-60): “President Biden and Democrats kept their promise. Thanks to the American Rescue Plan’s Child Tax Credits, tax cuts for working families in Georgia are on the way starting Thursday. #HelpIsHere #ChildTaxCredit
