TOMORROW: President Obama to Join Virtual GOTV Rally With Jon Ossoff, Reverend Raphael Warnock & Stacey Abrams To Mobilize For Georgia Runoffs

December 3, 2020

Friday Afternoon Event Will Highlight The Importance of Upcoming Voter Registration Deadline on December 7th, Start of In-Person Early Voting on December 14th

TOMORROW on Friday, December 4th, President Barack Obama will join U.S. Senate candidates Jon Ossoff and Reverend Raphael Warnock with former Georgia House Minority Leader Stacey Abrams and Congresswoman-Elect Nikema Williams, Chairwoman of the Democratic Party of Georgia, for a virtual GOTV rally and discussion with volunteers ahead of Georgia’s December 7th voter registration deadline and the start of in-person early voting on December 14th.

Friday’s event will focus on the high stakes of Georgia’s Senate races for the country’s future and the importance of signing up to volunteer. Jon Ossoff is running to unseat Senator David Perdue and Reverend Warnock is running against unelected Senator Kelly Loeffler in two critical races that will decide whether Mitch McConnell keeps control of the U.S. Senate.

Interested supporters must sign up to join Friday’s event here

Those who RSVP for the event and also sign up for a volunteer shift will be invited to submit a question that could be read live during the event.

Earlier this week, Democrats announced the leadership team for the unprecedented multimillion-dollar coordinated campaign to register and mobilize Georgia voters for the January 5th runoff elections.

“With Early Voting starting December 14, Friday’s event with President Obama, Reverend Warnock, and Stacey Abrams will inspire this historic statewide movement to generate record-shattering turnout so we can end this COVID crisis, deliver affordable health care for all Georgians, and pass a new Civil Rights Act,” said Jon Ossoff.

“I am deeply honored to have the support of President Obama, and I look forward to this conversation with my friends Jon, Stacey and Nikema about the pressing issues facing Georgians,” said Reverend Warnock. “We need leaders in Washington who will commit to putting the people first. Health care is on the ballot, relief for those impacted by the coronavirus is on the ballot, voting rights are on the ballot, and that is why we need every Georgian to get engaged and help turn out the vote.”

“Georgia Democrats are thrilled to welcome President Obama virtually to our state to energize voters ahead of this critical election,” said Congresswoman-Elect Williams, Chairwoman of the Democratic Party of Georgia. “President Obama knows what we do: Georgia voters will decide the future of our nation, from passing COVID relief to protecting our voting rights. With his help, we will win this election for Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock and take back the Senate for working families across this country.”
