SHOT/CHASER: With Economy in Recession, Perdue Touts “Economic Turnaround” — and Complains About Canceling Fundraisers

August 7, 2020

SHOT: Today, Senator David Perdue doubled-down on his record downplaying the impacts of the coronavirus outbreak (and attacking needed relief for out-of-work Georgians), claiming that, “this is the best economic turnaround in U.S. history.”

CHASER: The US economy just reported its “worst quarter on record,” and Georgia ranks last in economic recovery with hundreds of thousands of Georgians out-of-work.

LIME: Perdue’s complaint about the ongoing coronavirus outbreak: “It’s very difficult. We’ve cancelled about 142 fundraising events because of COVID.

“While Senator Perdue misleads voters about the economy and whines about having to cancel his fundraisers, Georgia families are struggling to even put food on the table and keep a roof over their heads in this crisis,” said Alex Floyd, spokesman for the Democratic Party of Georgia. “Georgians deserve a Senator focused on them, not his fundraising in the middle of a pandemic.”
