SHOT/CHASER: Loeffler Praises Trump and Republican Coronavirus Response — As Trump Admits to Downplaying the Virus And Senate GOP Fails to Pass Needed Relief

SHOT: Last night, unelected “political mega-donor” Senator Kelly Loeffler praised President Donald Trump’s failed coronavirus response while defending Senate Republicans’ failure to pass more coronavirus relief, telling Fox 5’s Christine Sperow, “She approves the president’s response and actually gives the Democrats a failing grade for not passing another stimulus bill.”

CHASER: The reality? It was  Senate Republicans who refused to negotiate and failed to pass needed coronavirus relief months after the House already approved a relief bill, and Trump  admitted on tape to “concealing the true threat of coronavirus.” In fact, Trump “often ignored” early warnings about the virus while later privately acknowledging that it was “more deadly than even your strenuous flus.” And Trump even privately claimed that he “wanted to always play [the virus] down” as it spread rapidly across the country.

“Senator Kelly Loeffler is so desperate to score points with a White House that won’t even publicly back her that she’s refusing to acknowledge the reality about President Trump and Senate Republicans’ failed coronavirus response,” said Alex Floyd, spokesman for the Democratic Party of Georgia. “The fact that she would praise Trump even with tapes of him  admitting to downplaying the virus and slam Democrats despite Senate Republicans’ failure to pass a relief bill shows just how out-of-touch Loeffler is.”
