NO WAY WALKER: Columbus Voters Stand Against Herschel Walker

November 3, 2022

Today, Columbus voters held a press conference highlighting Herschel Walker’s pattern of lies and disturbing behavior— all while the GOP Senate candidate refuses to answer basic questions after the latest series of revelations, including the latest report of another woman being threatened by Walker. Speakers discussed how Walker’s long, damning pattern of lies, scams, and disturbing conduct proves he is not ready to represent Georgians.

With the last day of early voting on Friday, November 4, speakers reminded Georgians why Walker has not earned their vote to represent them in the U.S. Senate and encouraged voters to make their voices heard.

“The whole point of serving in the Senate is to protect people — but it’s clear that Walker is a violent man who has continued lying to Georgians about every aspect of his life instead of taking responsibility for his behavior. The women of Georgia deserve leaders who will fight for us, not fight against us,” said Carolyn Hugley, state House Rep. District 136 and Columbus mom.

“I’m a father, a small business owner, and a public servant here in Columbus. In my mind, there’s nothing more important than lifting up and caring for the people around you — from your constituents, to your employees, to your own family. That’s why I am so disturbed by Herschel Walker’s well-documented pattern of lies and disturbing behavior, especially surrounding his businesses, his personal conduct, and the ways he takes advantage of people,” said Teddy Reese, State House Rep.-Elect District 140 and small business owner.

“The truth is important. Unfortunately, it’s not important to Herschel Walker. And I think we’ve all been hearing the avalanche of news stories about his exaggerations. And lies about his business accomplishments about his educational attainments about his law enforcement credentials, which would be laughable if they weren’t so disheartening. And we’ve also heard a lot about the spousal abuse and the threats and the odd and disturbing behavior,” said Bill Harlan, Columbus voter and Vietnam veteran. “But I think what what really made me the angriest was to hear about his claim to have founded a group to help veterans, when in reality what he did was he made hundreds of thousands of dollars working for a for-profit program that investigators are now saying defrauded the government – and even worse, defrauded veterans themselves. What kind of person does that? Well, it’s the same kind of person who says he’s going to contribute millions to charity then doesn’t do it. It’s the same kind of person who lies about his resume. It’s the same kind of person that is guilty of this incredible hypocrisy when it comes to women’s health. These behaviors would be bad for any one of us. But they’re outrageous for a candidate for the United States Senate.”
