New Poll Confirms Both of Georgia’s Senate Seats Are “In Play”

May 19, 2020

Newly released polling shows Democratic candidates leading in both races and confirms Georgia Republicans are more vulnerable than ever in 2020

ATLANTA — Today, a newly released poll further confirmed that “Georgia is in play” in 2020 following weeks of poor numbers from the GOP’s own internal polling and ratings changes in Democrats’ favor in the state.

Check out the highlights:

  • Democratic candidates leading or statistically tied with Senator David Perdue
  • Democratic candidates leading both Kelly Loeffler and Congressman Doug Collins in head-to-head match-ups
  • Former Vice President Joe Biden leads President Donald Trump in head-to-head match-up
  • Loeffler underwater by almost 40 points with an unfavorability rating of nearly 60%
  • Perdue also underwater with Georgians — including an over 20 point gap with independents

Perdue has already admitted that “Georgia is in play” thanks in part to an “influx of new Democrats” in the state, while Loeffler and Collins have been too focused on “a ferocious and personal fight” to look out for their own flailing campaigns. Now, as Loeffler prepares to go nuclear against Collins to distract from her stock trading scandal and Perdue continues his track record of putting politics ahead of Georgia families’ well-being, polling continues to show that Georgia is “becoming a battleground” ahead of 2020.

“This latest polling confirms what Georgians already know: our state and both of its Senate seats are in play this election, and Democrats are in a strong position to win across the board,” said Alex Floyd, spokesman for the Democratic Party of Georgia. “As Georgia’s Republican Senate contenders continue spending their time fighting each other and trying to cover for their scandals rather than focusing on the needs of Georgia families, it’s no wonder polling continues to show that the GOP is in trouble in 2020.”
