Loeffler Refuses to Condemn QAnon Conspiracy Theory, Doubles Down on Support for Marjorie Taylor Greene

August 19, 2020

Loeffler still defending “bigoted” candidate even after news of Greene’s support for 9/11 conspiracy theory and history of racist remarks

ATLANTA — As news continues to break around Marjorie Taylor Greene’s bigoted views and conspiracy theory pandering, Senator Kelly Loeffler is still refusing to condemn either the baseless QAnon conspiracy theory or Greene herself for her offensive remarks.

Instead, yesterday Loeffler again compared herself to Greene as “an outsider” and applauded Greene for “articulat[ing] a clear choice” in the race. Loeffler’s praise for Greene also comes after a newly surfaced video revealed Greene’s past support for a 9/11 conspiracy theory — which Greene then tried to walk back and blame on “the Deep State.”

Loeffler is not alone in standing behind Greene. Her Republican opponent, Congressman Doug Collins, also has no problem with Greene’s bigotry and conspiracy peddling, claiming that she will be “a wonderful congresswoman” who he “look[s] forward to working with.”

“It’s past time for both Senator Kelly Loeffler and Congressman Doug Collins to call out Marjorie Taylor Greene’s bigotry. Instead, they’re each too busy trying to win favor with the White House to listen to Georgians,” said Alex Floyd, spokesman for the Democratic Party of Georgia. “Loeffler and Collins’ continued support for Greene is just another example of how out-of-touch they are with Georgians’ values — and a sign they can’t be trusted to hold their party accountable in Washington.”
