Kemp Loses in Court Again; Continued Attempts to Deny Right to Vote Demonstrate Why He Can’t Be Trusted and Must Resign

October 31, 2018

ATLANTA — Today, Democratic Party of Georgia Executive Director Rebecca DeHart issued the following statement:

“Once again, Brian Kemp has failed in his desperate attempt to deny Georgians their fundamental right to vote. Rather than accepting the Judge’s well-reasoned opinion, Kemp continued to waste taxpayer dollars and abuse his position as Secretary of State by appealing the decision. Throughout his tenure as Secretary of State and especially during his campaign for governor, Brian Kemp has made clear that he does not believe that every eligible Georgian, regardless of race, disability, or zip code should have the right to cast their ballot. Mail-in ballots are essential to make voting accessible to all, and in fact are sometimes the only way that eligible voters can make their voices heard. By forcing another costly appeal, Brian Kemp has proven yet again that he cannot be trusted to oversee this election fairly. He must resign immediately.”
