ICYMI: Democratic Party of Georgia Hosts Press Conferences on First Day of Early Voting

December 16, 2020

Today, Monday, December 14, the Democratic Party of Georgia held press conferences in DeKalb County, Macon, and Columbus to mark the first day of early voting in the Peach State. Local leaders and voters encouraged Georgians to make a plan to vote early before Election Day on January 5, and shared resources to find out where, when, and how to vote.

Throughout the runoff cycle, Georgia Democrats will engage voters across the state and urge them to make their voices heard by electing Jon Ossoff and Reverend Raphael Warnock to the U.S. Senate.

DeKalb County Early Vote Press Conference with Congressman Hank Johnson
“Georgians can vote in person in the runoff election starting today. You can go to any of the polling places that are open for early voting in your county. And when you vote, make sure you vote for all three races on the ballot – it is so important we elect both Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock to the Senate, and Daniel Blackman to the Georgia Public Service Commission,” said Congressman Hank Johnson. “Let’s make sure we go to the polls – don’t wait until the last day to vote. Go during the next two weeks. Georgia, all eyes of the nation are on us. Go out and vote, do it early, make a plan, and stick with it. And once you vote, encourage your friends, relatives, neighbors, and coworkers to do the same.”

Macon Early Vote Press Conference with Minority Leader James Beverly and State Representative Miriam Paris
“Today, Monday, December 14, is the first day of in person early voting here in the Peach State for our crucial runoff elections. There are many ways to vote this election season, but voting early in person, if you are able, is a great way to make your vote count — you can vote at any early voting location in your county, on your own time,” said State Representative Miriam Paris. “With less than one month away from Election Day, now is the time for voters across the state of Georgia to make a plan to vote, and vote early for both Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock.”

“On January 5th, Georgia has the chance to take back the Senate for working families across this country and send leaders to Washington who put the people first. First thing’s first –– check out the early voting locations and times in your county and make a plan to vote now, before the holidays,” said Minority Leader James Beverly. “Remember, early voting locations may be different than they were in November, so be sure to visit georgiademocrat.org/vote to find the polling location closest to you.”

Columbus Early Vote Press Conference with State Senator Ed Harbison and State Representative Carolyn Hugley
“We turned Georgia blue in November. Now it’s time to keep in blue and flip the Senate by electing Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock,” said State Representative Carolyn Hugley. “This fight is not over and it is so important that every Georgian makes their voice heard early. And voting early in person is a great way to do that. We know the holiday season is a busy time for everyone, so that’s why we encourage you to get out to the polls this week and get it done.”

“This has been an election year like no other, but Georgia voters showed up and turned Georgia blue in November — and Georgia voters are ready to turn out early for Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock,” said State Senator Ed Harbison. “Today is the first day of early voting in person, so you can make your voice heard at the ballot box right now!”
