Georgia Republicans Oppose Public Health, Public Opinion to Run Pro-COVID Campaigns

New polling from Fox News shows that 67% of Americans support President Biden’s COVID-19 plan

As Brian Kemp spouts dangerous misinformation in an attempt to defend his do-nothing COVID-19 strategy and Georgia Republicans politicize measures to protect Georgians’ health, widespread polling shows that the overwhelming majority of Americans support President Biden’s plan to defeat the pandemic. 

Yesterday, even Brian Kemp’s favorite media outlet Fox News released a poll showing that 67% of Americans surveyed favored the President’s new measures to decrease the spread of Coronavirus, leaving Georgia Republicans on the wrong side of both public health and public opinion. Last week, Axios also released a survey showing that 60 percent of Americans approve of the Biden COVID-19 plan, and Politico released a poll with Morning Consult revealing that the President’s latest policies are supported by roughly 3 in 5 Americans.

“Brian Kemp and Georgia Republicans’ pro-COVID strategy isn’t just on the wrong side of public health and safety – their political posturing is widely unpopular, even according to Fox News,” Rhyan Lake, spokeswoman for the Democratic Party of Georgia, said. “Georgians’ lives are at stake, yet the GOP would rather prolong the pandemic than keep families safe. It’s past time for Republicans to stop spreading dangerous misinformation and join President Biden and Democrats in fighting the spread of COVID-19.”
