EXCLUSIVE: Democratic Party of Georgia Obtains GOP’s Plan to Replace Health Care Law After Lawsuit to “Terminate” It

June 24, 2020

ATLANTA — Ahead of the GOP filing arguments in their reckless lawsuit before the Supreme Court to “terminate” the health care law and threaten coverage protections for over 1.8 million Georgians with pre-existing conditions, the Democratic Party of Georgia has obtained an exclusive copy of Republicans’ plan to provide health care for the millions who would lose coverage during a global pandemic if their lawsuit is successful:

Here’s the reality: even as Republicans’ lawsuit to strike down the health care law “plows forward,” they still “have yet to agree on an alternative” to cover the millions of Americans who would lose their coverage from this lawsuit — including those with pre-existing conditions.

As a reminder, “establishment player” Senator David Perdue has already said he “of course” supports this dangerous anti-health care lawsuit. Meanwhile, top Trump ally Congressman Doug Collins has repeatedly voted to gut the health care law and unelected “political mega-donor” Senator Kelly Loeffler has promised to back Republican leadership “100%.”

But Republicans across the country are already beginning to panic at the prospect of their own lawsuit succeeding, with a recent report outlining the increasing “risk” Senate Republicans face trying to end a law that has proven especially critical during the coronavirus outbreak. Without any clear alternative in place, we can’t imagine it’s going to get any better for the GOP.
