DPG Statement On Supreme Court Victory for DREAMers

ATLANTA – Today, Democratic Party of Georgia Chairwoman Nikema Williams released the following statement:

“The court is clear: for DREAMers, this country is home. Thank you to the incredible organizers who have been fighting for this decision for years, the advocates who brought this fight to our highest courts, and our immigrant communities that have always made this country great.

This decision will protect the young people who are indisputably part of our country, and combat the hatred and bigotry that we have seen from this administration. Now, it’s time for America to seek a permanent solution to protect DREAMers, and make sure that pathways to citizenship are open and available across our country.

We must remember that today’s victory is deeply rooted in the fight for justice happening across our nation today, for our immigrant communities, and for Black Americans who for years have seen the resonating impacts of white supremacy rip through communities and families. Today is a victory for all of us – but there is still much work to do.

Georgia Democrats are proud to represent the many Georgia immigrants that make our state stronger, and we are committed to keep fighting for immigrants rights and protections, until the American dream is truly possible for all.”
