Democratic Party of Georgia Statement on Booming February Jobs Report

March 4, 2022

Today, a new report from the Department of Labor detailed that the U.S. economy under President Biden’s leadership added 678,000 jobs in February, the unemployment rate has fallen to 3.8%, and wages have grown 5.1% compared to February 2021. Following today’s booming jobs report, Scott Hogan, Executive Director of the Democratic Party of Georgia, released the following statement:

“As we approach the one-year anniversary of the American Rescue Plan becoming law, today’s jobs numbers are the latest evidence that President Biden’s economic plan is working and our economic recovery is on track. President Biden and Democrats’ American Rescue Plan is the biggest driver behind this historic economic recovery, yet every single Georgia Republican in Congress voted against making this recovery possible.

“If we saw this kind of record job numbers under the previous president, every member of the Republican Party would be celebrating them, but we’re sure to see a muted response today because Georgia Republicans not only root against our economic recovery – they tried to stop it.

“There is still more work to be done, but instead of joining Democrats to lower costs for Georgians, Republicans are once again trying to stand in the way with no plan of their own other than to raise taxes on over half of Americans. This November, Democrats will make sure every Republican has to answer for their outright refusal to help lower costs and create a stronger economy for Georgians and the American people.”
