Democratic Party of Georgia Responds to Republicans’ Desperate Attempts to Sow Doubt in Our Elections

May 21, 2021

In response to the news that Georgia Republicans plan to waste even more time and resources pursuing baseless election conspiracies, Scott Hogan, Executive Director of the Democratic Party of Georgia, released the following statement:

“This ‘audit’ is nothing more than an extension of the dangerous, debunked conspiracy theories surrounding our free and fair 2020 presidential election. While Democrats continue delivering for Georgia and the American people, Republicans are still amplifying Donald Trump’s Big Lie because they have no real agenda to help working families. We are confident that – for the third time – Republicans’ false claims will be discredited. It is well past time that the Georgia GOP put this to rest.”

As the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reminds:

“The latest Georgia audit cannot change the election results, which were certified months ago and have already been confirmed by multiple recounts.”

None of the lawsuits. . . succeeded in overturning the election results. But Trump continues to make false claims the election was ‘rigged’…”

“Such claims have been repeatedly debunked by election experts, by a full hand recount of ballots, by an audit of absentee ballot signatures and by Trump’s own attorney general and election security chief.”

“The secretary of state’s office also examined allegations of misconduct at State Farm Arena and found no evidence of wrongdoing.
