Democratic Party of Georgia Announces Directors of Coordinated Campaign

Tracey Lewis to serve as Executive Director and Cabral Franklin to serve as Senior Advisor of Georgia Victory 2014

 

 

Atlanta, GA – Today, Democratic Party of Georgia Chair DuBose Porter announced the two individuals who will direct the state party’s 2014 coordinated campaign—Tracey Lewis will serve as Executive Director and Cabral Franklin will serve as Senior Advisor.

We have some of the most competitive races in the nation this year, so it’s only fitting that our coordinated campaign is operated by some of the best talent in the nation.”

Tracey Lewis – Most recently Tracey Lewis served as the State Strategic Advisor for Senator Elizabeth Warren’s senate office in Washington, D.C.  In 2012 she was the Deputy Campaign Manager for Elizabeth Warren’s Massachusetts senate campaign overseeing day to day operations for the campaign along with the massive grassroots field and get-out-the-vote operations.

 

From 2009-2011 Lewis was the National Field Director for the Alliance for Climate Protection, a national grassroots issue advocacy campaign spanning 28 states, founded by former Vice President Al Gore.

 

In 2010, Lewis managed the Connecticut Democratic Coordinated Campaign and successfully executed a get-out-the-vote operation in one of the only states in the country to sweep and secure Democratic victories for all statewide and congressional seats including Senator Richard Blumenthal and Governor Dan Malloy.

 

In 2008, Lewis served as Field Director in Hillary Clinton’s historic comeback win in the New Hampshire primary. Lewis then served as a senior field advisor managing grassroots and get-out-the-vote efforts winning six other primary states for Clinton including Tennessee, Texas, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, West Virginia and South Dakota.  During the general election, Lewis was the General Election Director for President Obama’s New Hampshire Campaign for Change.

 

From 2004 to 2007, Lewis served as the Deputy Executive Director for John Kerry’s leadership political action committee. In 2006 Lewis served as the first African American campaign manager for the Massachusetts Democratic Coordinated Campaign electing Governor Deval Patrick and re-electing Senator Edward Kennedy.  While in Florida in 2004 for John Kerry’s presidential campaign Lewis assisted with statewide field and get-out-the-vote operations.  Lewis also served as Kerry’s Credentials Director during the 2004 Democratic National Convention.

 

Cabral Franklin – Cabral Franklin is the managing partner for Franklin Communications. Most recently, Cabral was the general consultant for a first-time candidate who pulled off a massive upset in the most high profile Atlanta city council race of 2013.  In addition, he was a consultant for four school board candidates who all won seats on the Atlanta Board of Education in 2013.  Also, Cabral was part of the media team for Justin Fairfax who narrowly lost the 2013 democratic nomination for Virginia Attorney General.

 

During the 2012 Presidential cycle, Cabral worked with the Super PAC Black Men Vote. The PAC spent almost $1 million on radio advertisements produced by Franklin Communications and the ads were cited in Bloomberg, Politico, MSNBC, Factcheck.org and Washington Post.

 

In addition, Cabral was also a central part of a bipartisan consultant team in 2012 that was successful in passing sales tax ballot referendums in three regions of Georgia. Also in 2012, Cabral help pass a constitutional amendment in Georgia for public charter schools. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution cited a radio ad produced by Franklin Communications as crucial to the strong support for the amendment in the African-American community.

 

In 2010, Cabral co-managed the day-to-day operations of the Democratic Party of Georgia’s Coordinated Campaign and was responsible for the messaging, voter targeting, and overall management of the direct mail, live telephone calls, and traditional street corner get-out-the-vote efforts.

 

Campaign & Elections magazine recently named him a “Georgia Influencer” by naming him one of the “Top 10″ political consultants in the state and he has won numerous awards for his media work on campaigns.
