Cook Political Report Moves Georgia’s 16 Electoral College Votes Towards Joe Biden

July 8, 2020

ATLANTA — Today, after weeks of momentum and the highest voter turnout for a primary in Georgia history, Cook Political Report has moved Georgia’s electoral college ratings to a “toss up,” and one step closer to electing Joe Biden and Democrats across Georgia in November

This ratings change comes after weeks of momentum for Georgia Democrats. In recent polls from PPP and Fox News, Biden has a narrow lead over Trump in Georgia, while Democrats have also led or statistically tied Republicans in both of Georgia’s Senate races and the highly competitive 6th and 7th Congressional districts.

In Georgia’s June 9th primary, Georgia Democrats broke records with the all-time highest turnout for a primary in Georgia history, and Democratic voters outvoted Republicans at every step of the process.

Today’s ranking change shows what Georgia Democrats have been saying for years: Georgia is the battleground, and Georgia Democrats are ready to win.
