Collins Votes to Let Trump Administration Use Taxpayer Funds To Continue Fighting to Take Away Georgians’ Health Care

July 31, 2020

Collins’ vote would let Trump DOJ continue efforts to gut health care law and threaten protections for 1.8 million Georgians with pre-existing conditions in a global pandemic

ATLANTA — Yesterday, Congressman Doug Collins continued his reckless crusade to rip health care protections away from Georgians and voted to make sure the Trump administration could continue using taxpayer funds to plow ahead with the toxic lawsuit to completely overturn the health care law.

Collins, who has already repeatedly voted to gut the health care law in Congress, previously called the GOP-backed lawsuit another effort to “overcome” the law which he also called “disaster” while lamenting the GOP’s failure to repeal it sooner.

What would this Collins-backed lawsuit look like for Georgia?

“Once again, Congressman Doug Collins chose the Trump administration and his special interest backers over Georgia families and their health care,” said Alex Floyd, spokesman for the Democratic Party of Georgia. “Even in the middle of a global pandemic, Collins is still voting to support a lawsuit threatening access to health care and vital health care protections for Georgians.”
