Deputy Political Director for African-American Outreach

The Democratic Party of Georgia (DPG) is seeking a full-time Deputy Political Director for African-American Outreach. The Deputy Director will work to strengthen and build new political relationships and maintain existing relationships with elected officials, businesses, affiliated organizations, and others with a commitment to the values of the Democratic Party. They will support all Democrats running for office in a General Election and, as needed, will assist with candidate recruitment before a General Election. Deputy Political Directors will also lead or advise on events, projects, or initiatives either internally or across departments when relevant to their portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Political Director to implement the state political plan.
  • Recruit, manage, and leverage endorsements within the state to support political, organizing, fundraising, digital, county affairs, and communications program objectives.
  • Support the travel and virtual events of the President, Vice President, First Lady, Second Gentleman, members of the administration, and national surrogates.
  • Prepare memos and briefings for political events for principals and surrogates.
  • Regular call and meeting time with party leaders, political activists, strategic partners, allied organizations, and elected officials.
  • Hosting or Attending political events and rallies on behalf of the DPG.
  • Training activists in field and grassroots political organizing.

Preferred Experience

  • A track record of successful community engagement and relationship building.
  • Experience working with people of color and other marginalized communities.
  • Campaign experience in 2-3 cycles preferred.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications.
  • Strong time and relationship management skills.
  • Strong Commitment to the values of the Democratic Party of Georgia.
