AG Chris Carr Hopes Georgians Will Forget His Disastrous Record As He Launches Re-election Bid

May 11, 2021

Today, Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr launched his 2022 re-election bid with hopes that Georgia voters would forget his disastrous record, including his leadership of the group that promoted a rally-turned-insurrection at the U.S. Capitol on January 6. Spoiler alert: Georgians remember.

“Chris Carr oversaw an organization that helped lead a march to overthrow our government. Before that, he was trying to rip away health care from Georgians with pre-existing conditions,” said Scott Hogan, Executive Director of the Democratic Party of Georgia. “Time and again, Chris Carr has put partisan politics ahead of Georgians, democracy, and the rule of law. He is wrong for our state, and we will remind voters of that at every turn ahead of the 2022 election.”

Chris Carr’s greatest (read: worst) hits:

  • Chris Carr led the Republican Attorneys General Association as it sponsored and promoted the January 6 rally-turned-deadly riot
  • Chris Carr sued to gut protections for people with pre-existing conditions.
  • Chris Carr openly supports and will enforce Georgia’s new voter suppression law.
  • Chris Carr is asking the Supreme Court to weaken protections from racial discrimination in elections.
  • Chris Carr is using taxpayer money to hire Trump lawyers – who tried to overturn the 2020 election and the will of Georgia voters – to defend the latest lawsuits against Georgia’s voter suppression law.
