After Multiple Reports of Missing Ballot Applications, Georgia Democrats Urge Voters To Take Action, Call Voter Protection Hotline

May 29, 2020

Today, after reports of widespread missing vote by mail ballot requests and calls from concerned voters across Georgia, the Democratic Party of Georgia (DPG) is urging all voters to take action to make sure their vote is heard and their ballot counted.

DPG Voter Protection Director Saira Draper issued the following statement:

“It is alarming that we continue to receive reports of missing ballot requests on a large scale from multiple Georgia counties a week and a half before the June 9 Primary. This failure is unacceptable in any election, and these mistakes must be corrected now and prevented from happening again. Voters have made proactive steps to protect their health, so the Secretary of State and counties must follow through on their promise to successfully implement voting by mail. The health of our voters, election officials, and our democracy is at stake — it is time for quick action.

Our voter protection team urges all Georgia voters to check the status of their ballot, and we have provided action steps that voters can take to make sure their vote is counted. We are here to help all voters with questions or concerns, and encourage voters to call the Voter Protection Hotline at 888-730-5816.”

The Democratic Party of Georgia’s Voter Protection Team encourages all concerned voters to take the following steps:

  • If voters have received a vote by mail ballot, they should mail it in by June 2nd or drop it off at a drop box or county registrar’s office.
  • If voters requested but have not received a vote by mail ballot, they should:
  • Check the status of their ballot request at the My Voter Page here. If the status has not been updated, call the Voter Protection Hotline at 888-730-5816.
  • Consider voting safely at an early voting site in their county, and call the Voter Protection Hotline for help at 888-730-5816

The DPG maintains a 24 hour voter protection hotline to serve all voters in the state at every step of the voting process. Any Georgia voter can contact the hotline for assistance casting their ballot by calling 888-730-5816.
