DPG Statement on Voting Machines Vendor Announcement
ATLANTA – Today, in response to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger finally revealing his voting machines vendor to the public, Democratic Party of Georgia Chairwoman Nikema Williams released the following statement:
“Today’s announcement by the Secretary of State comes after months of closed-door negotiations and an absolutely opaque process, hiding the biggest voting machine contract in history from the Georgia voters who are paying for it. While it’s good news for Georgians that for once their Secretary of State chose against continuing the corrupt vice grip of ES&S, the road to secure elections remains a long one.
Make no mistake: this choice does little to overcome the past decade of incompetence and active voter suppression under the Kemp/Raffensperger administration. From compromising Georgians’ personal information and grossly mismanaging the 2018 election, to last week’s court hearings that revealed serious election security concerns, these Secretaries of State still have much to answer for.
Georgia voters have every reason to remain cautious as this process moves forward, and the Democratic Party of Georgia will take every possible step to continue protecting Georgia voters while the Secretary of State fails to do so.”
