Georgia Democrats Welcome Public Comment on 2020 National Delegate Selection Plan

Georgia Democrats Welcome Public Comment on 2020 National Delegate Selection Plan

ATLANTA – Today, the Democratic Party of Georgia posted the draft plan for delegate selection to the 2020 Democratic National Convention on its website for public review. You can view the plan here. This document specifies policies and procedures for securing all of Georgia’s delegates and alternates, who will attend the 2020 National Convention in Milwaukee, WI.

Democrats in Georgia are encouraged to read the plan and provide feedback by emailingpubliccomment@georgiademocrat.org.

“Party leadership is committed to making Georgia’s delegate selection an inclusive and diverse process, and we look forward to hearing from members of the public,” said Democratic Party of Georgia Chair Nikema Williams. “We hope that Georgians across the state, especially those who have never been active with the Party before, will participate in this process to pick the next President of the United States.”

After the 30-day public comment period, Party leaders in the Affirmative Action Committee and the Executive Committee will resolve all comments and pass a final plan on for submission to the DNC Rules and Bylaws Committee. The DNC has until September 13th to notify the DPG of any changes.

The Affirmative Action Committee of the DPG seeks to implement a robust effort to ensure that all communities are represented in the Georgia delegation. It is the intent of the Democratic Party of Georgia to send a delegation to Milwaukee that reflects the diversity of our party and our state. Hearing from Democrats around the state about these efforts is critical.

While the 30-day public comment period will end on April 26th, the DPG will keep the plan available online here while it is under DNC review and throughout the delegate selection process.
