Want to break into politics? Are you passionate about Democratic values and want to use your own talents and strengths to further the cause here in Georgia? Get to know the names and faces of Georgia’s leading Democrats and help us support Democrats around the state by interning with the Democratic Party of Georgia. The DPG is currently seeking responsible and capable individuals who are interested in learning first-hand about politics.
Internships with the DPG frequently catapult qualified individuals into jobs in politics and the non-profit sector and are a great way to help Democrats win in future elections! DPG internships require a time commitment of at least 15 hours per week.
The internship program will run the length of an academic period (fall, spring or summer). Internships are unpaid but academic credit can be awarded. Interns will be working at our State Party headquarters in Atlanta, GA.
Internship Focus Areas:
DPG interns focus on one particular area of operations and Party activity. At times, however, all interns will assist in whatever areas needed. Focus Areas include: Communications & Press, Politics, Finance & Compliance, Field, Outreach & Research.
Responsibilities associated with an internship may include information gathering work at the capitol, media surveillance, various writing projects (press releases, emails, blog posts), video editing, graphic design, event planning, research, voter outreach, list management, and various special projects as needed by the Party and DPG staff.
Qualified interns should…
1.Be dependable, detail-oriented, motivated, and able to work in a fast-paced environment;
2.Be interested in the political process as well as be knowledgeable about Democratic Party issues;
3.Consider themselves a Democrat;
4.Be available to work at least 15 hours each week Monday through Friday.
Interns play a vital role in Party operations, and we rely a great deal on our interns to produce high-level work. Attire is Business Casual.
